Based on Taiwan-based Economic Daily News, Xu Sitao, Chief Representative of mainland from the Economist Group expressed on November 17 that investigation made by European Chamber of Commerce indicated 42% of foreign capital confidence with Taiwan as commercial investment place has risen significantly, and there are more than 60% of foreign businessmen deeming that only Taiwan resuming cross-straits transportation link to mainland China can investment in Taiwan increase.
Xu pointed out that under the world’s economic crisis, economic mode of mainland China transfers from export to domestic demand, so Taiwan should proactively participate in the change. Investigation made by the Economist Group also showed that a majority of foreign businessmen deem that biz exchange including cross-straits direct transportation link is the major factor influencing foreign investment in Taiwan.
